How do I shorten links straight from my browser or my website?

Under Tools & Integrations → Tools you'll find three ways to create short links without opening the dashboard.

Quick shortening

Add any address after https://selfpage.link/q/?u= and open the link in your browser. For example:

https://selfpage.link/q/?u=https://www.example.com/my-page

A short link is created automatically and saved to your account. For security, you need to be logged in with Keep me logged in ticked. This method doesn't show you the short link – you'll find it in the link list on your dashboard.

Bookmarklet

A button in your browser's bookmarks bar that shortens the page you're on.

  1. Open the Bookmarklet tab on the Tools page.
  2. Drag the button shown into your browser's bookmarks bar. If you can't drag it, create a new bookmark by hand and paste the code shown below the button as its address.
  3. On any page, click the bookmark to get a short link. If you're logged in, the link is saved to your account.

On some secure websites the window can't be shown; in that case you're taken to Selfpage, where you see the short link.

Full-Page Script

For websites and blogs: copy the code from the Full-Page Script tab and paste it at the end of your website's pages. The script automatically shortens the links on the page. You can:

  • choose another domain (one of your domains, written exactly as in your account, including https://);
  • limit the script to certain links, using a CSS selector (for example only the links inside .content);
  • exclude certain domains or limit shortening to certain domains only.

Code examples for each option are shown right on the Tools page.
